Our Beliefs/Vision/Mission

 BeliefsAlcott Elementary School Counseling Department believes:

  • All students should have access to a comprehensive data-driven school counseling program intended to meet the needs of every student.
  • The School Counseling Program serves a necessary role in meeting each student’s full potential through advocacy and interventions in academic, social/emotional, college and career domains.
  • All of our students are unique and come to us with different experiences, beliefs, ethnicities, races, gender identities, and special needs. We appreciate and embrace this diversity and believe they deserve equitable access to a 21st century education.
  • Collaboration with the community, parents, school staff and other valuable stakeholders is essential in the success of all students.
  • That students will develop life-long core values of being safe, taking ownership, achieving their goals, and respecting themselves and others.
Vision Statement

The vision of the Alcott Elementary school counseling program, is that all students will be equipped with the skills necessary to reach academic success, social emotional growth, and college and career readiness post high school. Students will be inspired to reach their utmost potential and gain the tools relevant to becoming socially responsible, high achieving, life-long learners that contribute to society.

Mission

School Counseling Department Mission: The mission of the Alcott Elementary Counseling Department is to provide access to a data driven comprehensive school counseling program which supports all students across academic, social- emotional, and college and career domains. The school counseling department will actively seek opportunities to advocate and promote a positive school climate which will foster equity for all students. This will be accomplished through a multi-tiered multi-domain systems of supports that include but are not limited to: school-wide activities, classroom lessons, small group instruction, individual counseling, and referrals for students in need of additional support. In partnership with parents, other teachers and administrators, and collaboration with the local community, the school counseling department will advocate for an equitable school environment which will develop self- empowered students who have the ability to appreciate diversity, demonstrate social responsibility, achieve their goals, and strive for life-long success for ALL students.
